M State falls in tight battle with Mayville State JV

The Comets held a four point lead at the break, 39-35.

Both teams shot 42% (30-71) from the field. Two key advantages that the visitors had was rebounding (51-38) and free throw shooting (16-24 for the Comets, 11-16 for the Spartans).

The contest featured seven lead changes and seven ties.

Four players scored in double figures for M State. Yonis Mohamud had a game high 24 points. Akok Aguer provided 15 points, six rebounds, five blocks, four steals and four assists. Noel Kabanga chipped in 14 points and eight rebounds, while Foday Sheriff finished with 12 points and seven rebounds.

Now at 11-9 on the season, the Spartans return to division play on Feb. 1, hosting Anoka-Ramsey.
