MORRIS — On Saturday the M State Spartans golf team followed up their first-place finish in the men’s division at the UMM Invite as runners-up at the Cougar Invite hosted by MN-Morris at Pomme de Terre Golf Course with a team score of 337.

Barely edging out the Spartans for the top spot was Martin Luther College with a team score of 331.

Individually Grant Inniger once again led the Spartans men with an 82 while Martin Luther College’s Paul Frick took medalist honors with a 78.

On the women’s side of the competition the Spartans’ Audra Ewan shot a 99 while Morris’ Payton Sierra took medalist honors with an 89. MN-Morris won the women’s team competition with a 370.

The Spartans will hit the links again Tuesday for a dual competition against Concordia JV at Moorhead Country Club at a time yet to be determined.
