The M State baseball team rebounded for a doubleheader sweep Wednesday to get a sweep of their own Thursday as the Spartans defeated visiting Rainy River 13-12 and 11-4.

GRAND RAPIDS — The M State baseball team had a hard fought battle with the Itasca Vikings in a doubleheader Friday, but the Spartans could only come out with a split, falling in Game 1 11-10, but winning the second game 17-10.

The M State baseball team picked up their fourth and fifth consecutive victories Wednesday as the Spartans topped Northland Community and Technical College in both games of a home doubleheader.

The M State Lady Spartan softball team played Rochester Community and Technical College Tuesday on their home field and lost Game 1 16-0 and Game 2 12-2. The Spartans have a very inexperienced team this year and are still searching for their first win.



Minnesota State Community and Technical College has begun the search for a men’s basketball coach to succeed Shawn Sorenson, who has announced his resignation after coaching the Spartans for four seasons.

The M State baseball team snapped a nine-game losing skid Tuesday as the Spartans upended the North Dakota State College of Science Wildcats 10-6.

The M State Spartan softball team opened their season against the No. 10 ranked team in the nation, the St. Cloud Technical and Community College Cyclones, and dropped a pair of games. Game 1 ended 27-3 and Game 2 score was 26-2.

AUSTIN — The M State baseball team struck early in both games of Wednesday’s doubleheader against Riverland Community College, but it would be the Blue Devils that picked up the sweep of the Spartans 11-4 and 10-3.

The M State baseball team took on the St. Cloud Technical and Community College Cyclones in a pair of doubleheaders over the weekend. The Cyclones would come away with a 4-0 record after the series.

The M State Spartans baseball team (1-3) hit the field Thursday for its home opener against the Minnesota West Community College Blue Jays. The Spartans got control of the game early on as the home team picked up a 12-2 victory.

The M State men’s basketball team closed out their season at home against Riverland Saturday. But it would be the guest that left the court with the win as Blue Devils claimed an 88-60 victory.

A rough first half allowed the visiting Riverland Riverland Community College Blue Devils to upend the M State men’s basketball team Saturday 88-47.

The M State women’s basketball team was in search of its first win Saturday as it began Minnesota College Athletic Conference (MCAC) play against the Rochester Yellowjackets. But a hiccup in the second quarter gave the visitor the opportunity to gain the lead and pick up a 78-65 win.

The M State men’s basketball team (0-1) welcomed in the Rochester Community College Yellowjackets for an Saturday afternoon tilt. The visiting Yellowjackets used a 29-point first half lead to coast to a 92-55 victory.

New this fall at Minnesota State Community and Technical College is the sport of clay target, which became a varsity sport in the Minnesota College Athletic Association in 2019.

COON RAPIDS — The M State men’s basketball team made over 57% of its shots in Wednesday’s road game against Anoka-Ramsey, but the Golden Rams would do just enough to hold off the Spartans for a 99-89 victory.

The M State men’s basketball team kicked off its MCAC Southern Division schedule at home against Anoka-Ramsey Community College Wednesday. The visiting Golden Rams would run away with the game in the second half as they defeated the Spartans 84-64.
