Approaching the green: M State golfer Trevor Dalbec hits an approach shot on the 13th hole Tuesday at Crossroads Golf Course.

CARRINGTON, NORTH DAKOTA — The M State men’s golf team traveled to compete in the Jamestown Fall Classic Monday and Tuesday.

The two-day tournament saw the Spartans finish in sixth place overall, shooting a 318 on Day 1 and a 307 in the second day for a 625.

“After struggling on Day 1, we played better and put up a nice score on Day 2,” Spartans head coach Jason Retzlaff said. “We made too many big mistakes in Round 1 and limited those today. The quality of players in this tournament was outstanding and good for our players to compete in such a competitive environment.”

The Spartans were led on the course by Wyatt Blomseth with a two-day total of 151 (75-76). Rounding out the scoring for M State were Trevor Dalbec (156, 81-75), Carter Justesen (158, 81-77), Grant Inniger (161, 81-80) and John Vall (165, 86-79).

In the women’s competition, M State golfer Lexi Poyzer shot a 199 two-day score (103-96).

The Spartans will compete next in the UMM Invite at Minnewaska GC on Friday at 11a.m.
