NISSWA — The M State men’s golf team cruised to a victory as another solid day on the links gave them the Central Lakes Invitational title and a medalist Tuesday.
The Spartans, coming off an amazing 301 first day score, saw its team score rise by six strokes in day two. After tallying a 608 two-day score, M State claimed a 53-stroke victory over runner-up Central Lakes College.
Ryan Ames took home medalist honors as he combined for a 146 score, while teammates Joey Manthis and Chris Swenson each finished the tournament with a 151 score.
“It was a solid team round today on a difficult course,” Spartans head coach Jason Retzlaff said. “Congrats to Ryan Ames on earning medalist honors by shooting even par today. Will Storhaug also had his best round of the year and really hit his driver well. It will be a lot of fun to be at home for the Spartan Invite on Sunday.”
