Pressing the issue

PRESSING THE ISSUE: Senior captain, Piper Andrews, shuffles through the offense zone on Thursday night versus Alexandria.

Facing off against the Alexandria Cardinals on Thursday at the Fergus Falls Community Ice Arena, the Fergus Falls girls ice hockey team saw their 12 game unbeaten streak come to an end, via a 4-2 final. After falling behind in the first period, the Otters evened the score on a shorthanded goal by Hannah Johnson who was assisted by Gabby Brimhall. That score would hold into the first intermission.

The Cards came out in the second period with a pair of goals within a minute of each other to snag a 3-1 advantage. Down but not out, Fergus pulled within one at the 9:05 mark of the middle period on a goal by Rylynn Krein, assisted on the play by Lizzy Moxness. Alexandria would add some cushion with a goal late in the third to finish off the victory.

It was the first loss at home for the Otter girls. They are now 12-2-1, as the fifth ranked team in the latest “Let’s Play Hockey” rankings and will be back in action on Tuesday at St. Cloud and host Northern Lakes on Thursday.
