At the Central Lakes Conference outdoor championship meet, on May 23, the Fergus Falls Otters were well represented and finished in fifth place as a team with 72.5 points. Alexandria claimed the team title with more than double the second place finisher, Brainerd (194.5 to 84).
Below is a list of those who received recognition from the conference.
All-Conference Honors:
The 4x800-meter relay team came in second place (Eight minutes, 38.04 seconds), with teammates David Ronnevik, Logan Bredenberg, Tommy Erickson and Matthew Tuel.
Jaden Miller claimed second in the 800 (2:04.91) and third in the 1600-meter run (4:39.12).
Alex Jensen came in first in the discus (158 feet) on a personal record and second in the shot put (56-00).
It was a first place finish for Shane Zierden in the triple jump (42-10.5).
Andrew Muchow was third in the pole vault and also a personal record (11-09).
Honorable Mentions:
Tuel was fourth in the 3200 (10:22.99).
Zierden provided a fourth place finish in the long jump (20-05).
Layten Drouillard had a sixth place finish in the discus (127-07).
“The team put together an impressive day on the track and in the field,” observed Fergus coach Derek Meyer. “We had some great beat performances and strong try’s close to personal best to sharpen up for next week at the section meet. We will look to give those the best chance at a shot at the state meet. I am happy with how we competed and hope we keep up the intensity.”
The section meet awaits the Otters. Day one is being held in Rocori, on May 31, with day two on June 3, in Detroit Lakes.
