HANCOCK — Hillcrest girls’ basketball put forth a good effort in Tuesday’s contest against the Hancock Owls, but the Comets would come out on the short end of the stick, falling 63-44.
“We played a great first half,” Comets head coach Hannah Clark said. “We moved the ball well on offense which led to open shots. We handled their full-court press and did a good job of taking care of the ball. Our defensive intensity provided a spark that carried over to our offense.
“We had a short bench tonight and simply ran out of steam in the second half which led to sloppy passes and poor defensive possessions.”
Leading the Comets in scoring in the game was Mackenzie Foss with 20 points, while teammate Anna Rasmussen chipped in 10.
“Mackenzie led us again in scoring with 20 points. She and Anna did a great job handling the ball for us tonight. Our team took a step in the right direction and I look forward to watching this team grow this season,” Clark added.
The Comets will continue their road excursion as they travel to take on Little Eight Conference foe Parkers Prairie at 7:15 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 3.
