The Pelican Rapids boys’ basketball team claimed two victories over Little Eight Conference teams in Rothsay and Battle Lake over the weekend.

On Friday, the Vikings would have a balanced scoring night as they topped the Rothsay Tigers 77-56.

Pelican Rapids would hold a 32-22 lead at halftime and go on to outscore Rothsay 45-34 in the second half.

Logan Fahje and Tanner Tollerud led the Vikings with 17 points each, while teammates  Liam Sytsma and Jayden Rutherford each added 10 points.

The Tigers were led by Colby Larson with 25 points, while Sam Danielson (14) and Tanner Heier (10) were also in double figures.

The Vikings would travel to Concordia College Saturday and would defeat the Battle Lake Battlers 64-50.

Rutherford led the Vikings with 21 points, while McHale Korf dropped in 16 of his own.

The Battlers were led by Riley Leabo 22 points and Brennan Amundson chimed in with 12.

The Vikings will get back to Heart O’Lakes Conference play as they travel to take on the Breckenridge Cowboys at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday.
