BARRETT — The Pelican Rapids volleyball team fought tooth and nail with the hosting West Central Area Knights Tuesday. At the end of the evening, the visiting Vikings left the court with a five-set victory 24-26, 25-15, 20-25, 25-22, 15-9.

Defensively, the Vikings were led by Anna Stephenson with 26 digs, while teammates Ryley Paulson (20) and Riley Berg (12) were also in double figures. Paulson (4), Berg (4) and Greta Tollefson (3) each had multiple aces.

Kaleigh Anderson (23), Holly Gilsdorf (19) and Hailey Bennett (17) led the Knights in digs, while teammate Liz Rustan provided 10 kills and Morgan Stark had four ace serves.

“Overall we improved our play tonight and came out as a team,” Knights head coach Melissa Foslien said. “We had been struggling as of late in meshing together and were in need of a solid performance.”

The Vikings return home to host Dilworth-Glyndon-Felton at 7 p.m. Thursday. The Knights will travel to take on Clinton-Graceville-Beardsley Thursday at 7 p.m.
