UNDERWOOD — The Underwood football team used a big first half to pick up a 42-6 win over Cass Lake-Bena Wednesday.

Nik Gardin got the scoring underway for the Rockets with a 12-yard touchdown run. Winston Heifort kicked the point after to give Underwood a 7-0 lead. Chase Janu would put another one in for Underwood, this time from 15 yards out. With time running out in the opening quarter, Zane Swanson sprinted in for a 10-yard touchdown to put the Rockets up 21-0.

In the second quarter, Janu would score his second touchdown from 5 yards out. Midway through the second, Reed Leabo plunged in from a yard out to put the Rockets up 34-0 at the break.

The scoring slowed down in the second half but Cass Lake would prevent the shutout in the third as Chris Vail scored from a  yard out. The point after was no good putting the score at 34-6. Underwood closed out the scoring in the fourth quarter as Jayden Harig pushed his way into the endzone for a 1-yard touchdown.

Brien Poser would lead the rushing attack for the Rockets with 94 yards on eight carries. Jaxon Rich had 5 1/2 tackles for Underwood in the win.

The Rockets will now wait for their playoff seed with the first round beginning Tuesday.
