UNDERWOOD — The Underwood boys’ basketball team could not overcome a strong transition game by the visiting Wheaton Warriors Thursday as the Rockets fell 68-49.
The game was close after the first half with Wheaton holding a 29-23 lead. In the second half, the Warriors took advantage of the Rockets’ errors to close out the game.
“We had a gameplan tonight and executed it really well in the first half and then Wheaton had some transition buckets that opened the game up in the second half. Our intensity and effort on both sides of the floor were good but Wheaton just found some seams in our zone and took advantage of our turnovers into fastbreak points. Overall it was a good effort and we’ll use the positives of the game moving forward.”
Braden Thorson led the Rockets in scoring with 19 points, while teammate Winston Heifort dropped in 17.
The Rockets will now travel to take on Little Eight Conference foe Rothsay at 7:15 p.m. Friday.
