ORTONVILLE — The “gang is all back” or at least on the way as the West Central Area girls’ golf team had their first golf meet of the season on Tuesday, April 23 in Ortonville.

It was a picture perfect day – 65 degrees, gentle breeze and lots of sunshine.  Just what we all needed after the long winter.  West Central Area is expecting great things with the core of last year’s varsity team back.  Jessica St. Martin a sophomore and four seniors; Lexi Poyzer, Libby Poyzer, Kate Wrolson and Emily Courrier are all back.

The gang is back and ready to have some fun and accomplish the personal and team goals they have set.  Three of the five golfers made the golfing debut on Tuesday with a couple of them having scheduling conflicts.  The consensus was they were thrilled to be playing in ideal conditions, a little rusty with little to no practice thus far and settled into solid games after they got the kinks out in the first few holes.

Courrier felt good about her drives.  Lexi Poyzer had a really strong back nine with some great chipping and putting.  Jessica St. Martin had a good round with the front nine being her strongest.

The Knights look forward to having all five golfers on Thursday at Balmoral and hopefully filling the sixth golfing position from our JV pool later this season.
