PERHAM — The West Central Area boys’ golf team is headed to the state tournament for the first time in school history.
West Central Area had a strong showing at the Pheasant Conference tournament in Long Prairie on Thursday last week with the girls taking first place with 156 points as a team and the boys receiving fifth place.
ORTONVILLE — Several area golf teams competed in Ortonville Monday with the West Central Area boys’ and Otter Tail Central (OTC) girls’ teams taking the meet.

ELBOW LAKE — On Tuesday, area teams hit the course in a Quad County Conference meet at Tipsinah Mounds Golf Course in Elblow Lake.
The West Central Area boys’ golf team took four out of the six medal spots as the Knights competed in a Quad County Conference meet at Pebble Lake Golf Course Thursday.
The Pheasant Conference closed out the 2021 basketball season in April awarding all-conference awards to area boys and girls’teams.
ELBOW LAKE — The West Central Area golf teams hosted Otter Tail Central, Hillcrest, Underwood, Ashby, Rothsay, Pillager and Border West in a home meet Thursday. The Knight boys would come away with a team victory, while the OTC girls’ team captured the girls team title.
HENNING — Despite morning weather, the Otter Tail Central Bulldogs baseball team kicked off their 2021 season Thursday as they hosted the West Central Area Knights. The visiting Knights struck early and closed out with a 5-1 victory.
PERHAM — In a close battle, the Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa Jaguars outlasted the West Central Area girls’ basketball team 75-71 Tuesday in the Class A state quarterfinals.
FOLEY — In the Class AA state preliminary round, Fergus Falls wrestler Kaden Hartwell (182 pounds) notched his 151st victory and advanced to the state semifinals at St. Michael-Albertville.
ASHBY — Taking on the 19-0 Ashby boys’ basketball team in the Section 6A playoffs seemed like a tall feat for the visiting West Central Area Knights. But a strong shooting night and even stronger defense, the Knights upset the No. 2 (Class A) Arrows 61-38 Saturday.
BARRETT — The West Central Area girls’ basketball team had two reasons to celebrate Wednesday. The first was a 76-37 victory over Brandon-Evansville in the Section 6A playoffs, while the second was senior Lexi Bright breaking the school’s all-time scoring record as she passed 1,746 points.
The West Central Area boys’ basketball closed out their regular season with a victory and a share of the Pheasant Conference title as the Knights defeated the hosting Hillcrest Comets 63-58.
